Non-Profiling Steam Hood

Non-profiling Lazy Steam Hoods are used in the forming section of relatively fast, lightweight paper machines to enhance couch water removal. This improves runnability and may enhance performance of existing steam profilers in the press section. Lazy Steam Hoods are an economical means of saving energy on certain machines that do not require precise CD moisture control or cannot afford a profiling steam box. These include:

  • IMPCO pulp dryers

  • Market pulp machines making bales

  • Multi-vat cylinder board machines

  • Fourdrinier newsprint or fine paper machines

  • Lightweight linerboard machines

  • Specialty grades
