About Us

Wells Enterprises is a small company specializing in "Lazy" steam applications to all types of pulp and paper machines. The equipment is simple in design and concept, hence more affordable than competitive steam showers. Since 1969, more than 400 Lazy Steamers have been supplied to all types of pulp and paper machines.

Lazy steam technology was developed by Roger Wells and a team of five full-time engineers and technicians over a period of fifteen years while with Weyerhaeuser Research and Development. Because the technology was so successful it was kept proprietary until 1983 when Weyerhaeuser helped Roger set up Wells Enterprises, Inc. as a licensee. Philip Wells joined the company in 1984. We later bought back the patents, allowing Wells Enterprises to sell industry-wide.

Documents from lab and field trials dating back to the 1970's are still relevant and available today from Wells Enterprises. Ongoing involvement in technical associations and our other technical networking keeps us abreast of the industry.

Being a small company allows Wells Enterprises to specialize in unique applications that might require custom equipment designs. Our exclusive fabricator, Eckstrom Industries of Everett, WA has built virtually all Lazy Steamers since 1972. Wells enjoys a one-on-one relationship with the customer as well as a hands-on approach with the equipment fabricator so very little slips through the cracks. Wells has the flexibility to ensure that equipment delivery matches machine down times. Education and evaluation assistance with equipment operation after startup is included in the purchase price, as well as free visits by Wells "when in the neighborhood". Most of our sales are generated by word of mouth and migrating mill personnel with prior experience operating Lazy Steamers. Wells Enterprises prefers to remain small and flexible with no reliance on sales representatives. We succeed by supplying quality equipment for proven locations but are willing to experiment with new fun applications.
